PRESS RELEASE
Publisher, Politico.ng, Lai Omotola
Report emanating from the stable of popular Nigerian Online
Newspaper, politico.ng, says its website has been hacked.
The publisher, Lai Omotola who made this known in Lagos on
Sunday, ascribed the development to the handiwork of those he described as
enemies of Nigeria.
He expressed concern that the hacking may not be unconnected
with an ongoing projection of the likely outcome of the 2027 General Elections
scheduled to begin in January across the country.
The Online Newspaper of record, had last week projected that the outcome of the
the polls would Favour incumbent President, Bola Tinubu who the forecast gave
20 states against 9 for former Vice President and candidate of ADC, Atiku
Abubakar while Peter Obi of the NDC followed closely with victory in 8 states.
The projection which was made available by the Political Intelligence Group of
politico.ng, has continue to gain traction across social media platforms and
political circles in the country.
And as widely expected, while the projection enjoyed commendation from a large
pool of social media users and political followers, some adherents of the
opposition, described the projection as a sponsored project of the ruling party
put in place to influence the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
Paul Ibe, spokesman of one of the top contenders, Atiku Abubakar, totally
dismissed the projection as lacking credibility and asked Nigerians not to
trust its outcome.
Meanwhile, the Publisher of politico.ng, has vowed to continue a monthly
running of the exercise to the end of the year, an update of the projection by
the PIG. He added that the projection is a running development whose outcome
could change at anytime and promised to return the website to life as soon as
possible.
